Remember when I wrote this newsletter about how I was sick of food media supporting shit operators and filthy touchers and didn’t have a solution for it? Well, it looks like someone got so sick of it, they decided to stick their neck out and create an imperfect solution.
For some quick context, there is an anonymous account on Instagram (Melbhospocreeps) posting photos of filthy touchers (let’s face it, men) who have sexually assaulted multiple people along with testimonies from victims.
Yes, it is scandalous because it hasn’t gone through the proper legal channels for accusation, but that’s because it is usually the victims who are penalised for reporting it in the first place. Melbhospocreeps makes sure that there are several accounts or actual evidence before they point the finger at anyone, so if you’re about to cry bully, don’t. As someone who has been intimidated, stalked and sexually assaulted by countless people across my time in hospitality, I love that someone has started this account. I am sick of being part of a whisper network where I have to know someone, who knows someone, to be warned about a creep.
